ATHLETES FOR THE NATIONS (AFTN)
"All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize"...1 Cor. 9:25
There are over 140 million orphans in the world today. Every day, over 5000 new children become orphaned by AIDS in Africa alone. Every 15 seconds, another child in Africa becomes an orphan. Nearly 1 billion people lack access to safe water. There are 14 million child deaths per year caused by water borne diseases. There are over 1 billion people in the world living on $1 dollar a day. Every 3.6 seconds someone dies of hunger.
These numbers are both staggering and overwhelming. When you hear these statistics, it's easy to think "There is no way I can make a difference"? But the truth is, YOU CAN and by becoming an Athlete for the Nations, YOU WILL.
Each year as athletes, we make 3- pointers, throw touchdowns, score goals, and hit the game winning runs. But the question is; Is your focus solely on winning & being successful, or is your focus on using the success you have had to make a difference in the lives of others? Are you caring for those in need?
Are you living a life of SIGNIFICANCE?
As an Athlete for the Nations, you will have a chance to transform your success into significance. You will use your on-field successes to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, house the homeless, and change the lives of suffering people all over the world. Life is not only about scoring touchdowns or winning games, it's about much more than that.
So, how do you become an Athlete for the Nations?
Option #1: FIND 5 CHALLENGE: We're asking you to form your own TEAM and "Find Five" people who will sponsor you during your athletic season. Each of your "teammates" can give a one- time donation or pledge you for a variety of on-field achievements. For example, you are a quarterback and one of your "teammates" pledges $5 per touchdown pass. You throw 20 touchdowns that season, your "teammate" will donate $100. 20 TD's x $5 = $100.
Option #2: BECOME A TEAM CAPTAIN: As a team captain, we are asking you to "FIND 5" people on your team, or in your school who will commit to doing the FIND 5 CHALLENGE along with you. Signing up to be a team captain qualifies you for our incentives program where you can win prizes.
OPTION #3: GO. AFTN will also be sending athletes to "the Nations" to serve the "least of these". You will have opportunities to go on vision trips and personally see the orphan, the hungry child, the street kid andbring love, help, and hope to people in need. You will also get to see how AFTN is making a difference, all over the world, because of athletes just like you, who have chosen to be SIGNIFICANT.
Just think, what if every touchdown you throw, every hit you made, or every goal you scored, would not only help you win a game, but also save a person's life. Will you join AFTN and be an Athlete for the Nations? Now that's living a life of SIGNIFICANCE!
